A red-crested korhaan is mainly found in the regions of South Africa. In swampy areas and the flat expanses of African landscapes, this species of birds can be found. It particularly thrives in open grasslands. The bird species were also kept in a national park, where they did not feel particularly comfortable. There was no reproduction.

They also mainly feed on insects and plant nutrients that they find on the ground. It was found that the red-crested korhaan feeds on the seeds of a specific acacia species and thus ensures the survival of its genus. This bird species can mainly be found in Namibia. Bustards also feed on shrubs and trees.
