Origin of the Berbers
Since no useful writings and records exist from the Berbers, little is known about their origin. However, it is known that the Greek/Roman word "Barbari" (the stammerer), is said to be the origin of the term "Berber". The Berber people consist of several different communities from North Africa. Among them are also the Tuareg. They all have one thing in common: one of the 3 Berber languages.
Berbers do not live in tribes
Unlike most other African peoples, the Berbers do not live together in tribes. Here, the extended family forms a unit. In times of need, the extended families would temporarily unite into tribes until the hard times were overcome. Then the tribal community would dissolve again and everyone went their own way.
In the extended family, only all together are strong. Even kinship groups can form a unit among the Berbers. Several combined together form a clan.
The main sources of income for the Berbers are livestock farming and field cultivation. In spring, the sheep and camel herds are led into the mountains, where they stay with individual family members over the summer. While the Berbers live in houses in the valleys in winter, the accommodations in summer are rather sparse. Sometimes they consist only of a small tent made of camel hair blankets https://www.kredite-vergleich.net/die-kredite/renovierungskredit.
